5: Painted Words Etc.
This approach reflects my fascination with words, meanings and the
process of writing. Words can be made visually palpable - amplifying their
meanings - or used to add humour, irony or emotional strength to a picture.
Writing (like drawing) is a process of making marks and expressing ideas - and,
whether one can read them or not, hand written words have a visual aesthetic
which generally expresses a writer's mood and personality. And so it follows
that make believe writing and similar calligraphic marks can be a form of
esoteric visual expression too. AG 07
