4: "Freedom" - Idealising the Process
This approach acknowledges that chance occurrences (accidental effects
and incidental discoveries) are often the best things going for a
painting. Loosening of
"control" promises a greater creative/expressive freedom which can be
aimed at a more subjective engagement with powerful ideas and feelings. Most of the creative/aesthetic decisions are
spontaneously made and the work lives or dies accordingly - little or nothing
